Upcycled Bunting

I'm preparing for the Paganoonoo booth at Artisty In Fashion, a terrific wearable art show on Saturday September 23, 2017 at 4200 Farm Hill Blvd., Canada College in Redwood City, CA 10:00 - 4:00.

I'd like my booth to "pop" and draw attendees over, so I've been thinking of what would be upcycled, totally cool, and I could make or buy inexpensively and use repeatedly.
I've been using quite a few dress shirts making blouse to sell at Artistry. When I disassemble dress shirts I use pinking shears and I save the felled seams.  Because I've been making so many garments my containers for seams and collars have started to overflow.

I had been thinking that I could make something with the harvested seams but had been a bit stumped on what to use to mount them on.

I was handling a harvested collar and it occurred to me that I could use collars for the band - sturdy, great colors and I have a bunch!

I originally had full two collars sewn together, but it was too tall and wanted to fold over.  I cut the collar stand and the top apart and sewed them together to start the bunting chain.  The seams were then added one by one.

I absolutely love it!  One advantage of using these materials is that the seams and collars are too thick to get tangled up.  A major advantage when doing windy outdoor shows and for storage.

It kind of reminds me of Tibetan prayer flags.

Please come by Artistry and Fashion on Sept 23, 2017, to see the booth and pick up some cool Paganoonoo garments!  10:00 - 4:00 Saturday only.  There will be 48 artists selling their wearable art.  It is a very well juried show and worth attending.  If you love non-traditional fashion do not miss this show!

I'd love to see you there, mention this blog entry for 10% off!

P.S. Make your own Paganoonoo using any of our upcycle sewing instructions.  Check out our Etsy store.
